I Hate Cotton 7/9/19

We watched a movie about a family in this area. It was called LaLee's kin: The Legacy of Cotton. It was a film that was made by HBO that focused on hunger and poverty in  America. The Tallahatchie School Superintendant was Reggie Barnes. He was our featured speaker in the afternoon. Reggie discussed issues beyond the classroom that impacted the students and their performance at school and their lives. The film was nominated for an Academy award.
The main character in the film was LaLee. Her quote " I hate cotton" had interesting implications in the film.

Take a look at this interview with Reggie.
